This long-lived line of locomotives used turbocharged 539-series prime movers.The 1000 horsepower S2 was a turbocharged version of the S1. There were 1,502 S2s sold to North American Railroads. The versatility of the S2s was evidenced by their service on class 1 shortline and industrial railroads. In 2023 this model was retooled to include more accurate body details. This Atlas model features a five-pole, skew-wound motor with dual flywheels, directional LED lighting, Accumate(R) magnetic knuckle couplers, accurate decoration and roadname-appropriate body details. This diesel comes equipped with an 8-pin DCC socket for easy decoder installation when you're ready.
